Infrastructure
With a steadily rising global population and more people living in large cities, the need for new and updated infrastructure is growing.
We have extensive expertise in the delivery of complex and logistically challenging infrastructure projects. These include rail, road, energy, utilities, airports and ports.
Through the increasing use of modern methods of construction, we are delivering projects with greater certainty for our infrastructure sector clients. We also continue to innovate. We have installed entire sections of railway platforms and constructed modular bridges using components manufactured off site in our own facilities. Our new modular bridge solution offers a 40% time saving compared to traditional methods of bridge construction.
We are currently delivering one of Europe's largest and most complex infrastructure projects. Hinkley Point C is the first nuclear power station to be built in a generation and will provide six million UK homes with low carbon energy. Our team is improving construction productivity as the project progresses, which will accelerate the delivery of future nuclear energy projects.
In Australia, we are leveraging our experience developed in the UK to deliver some of the the nation's most challenging infrastructure projects using modern methods of construction and industry-leading design solutions. On our Darlington Bridge Upgrade project in Adelaide we used techniques not seen before in Australia to install a 3,000 tonne, 180 metre bridge. It was constructed off site and installed ahead of schedule over a weekend. Our Sydney Metro Central Station project, inspired by our redevelopment of London's St Pancras International Station, involved the off site construction of a 330 tonne roof in regional New South Wales. It was then installed on site, significantly accelerating the delivery of what will become an iconic Sydney structure.
