Decarbonising the built environment

We’re working to become a net zero company by 2050. As part of this journey, we’re targeting:

• 42% reduction in absolute Scope 1&2 emissions by 2030
• 25% reduction in absolute Scope 3 emissions from purchased goods and services by 2030
• Net zero emissions across the value chain by 2050, including land-related emissions and removals from bioenergy feedstocks

We’ve invested significant resources into carbon measurement and reporting. This process has resulted in us reviewing our original carbon reduction targets, set in 2022, and enhancing our approach by introducing new, science-aligned targets.

While our original targets focused on eradicating Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 2030, we now know that 96% of our emissions are in Scope 3, making near-term Scope 3 reduction a priority for our business.

Our targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), providing external endorsement from a highly credible, independent body.

To achieve our near-term and long-term goals, we’re investing in low carbon solutions and technologies to minimise our own environmental footprint and our clients’. We’re focused on driving emissions reductions across our value chain, incorporating climate resilience from the design stage throughout the entire building lifecycle.

Working towards nature positive

Beyond our decarbonisation commitments, we also consider the nature-related impacts of our operations. We have completed baseline biodiversity surveys of our fixed facilities and are in the process of conducting nature positive planning. This means we are using the analysis to make nature-conscious decisions about our operations, as well as lending our expertise to client projects.
