Laing O’Rourke recognised as one of Australia’s Most Innovative Companies

The Australian Financial Review, a leading national business and finance newspaper, has recognised Laing O’Rourke on its annual innovation list.

Laing O’Rourke was the only tier one constructor to make the Financial Review BOSS Most Innovative Companies List, coming in at number seven amongst peers in the property, construction and transport sectors.

The accolade included recognition for delivering BuiltView, a timesaving, dedicated camera app and workflow platform for construction teams.

Developed by Laing O’Rourke’s Technology and Innovation Group, BuiltView allows construction site workers to easily capture, store, share and contextually engage with photos taken on-site. Photos provide critical input to track and document progress, identify quality issues, capture safety hazards, settle legal disputes, and communicate with clients and the community.

Prior to using BuiltView, the team found that only about 10 per cent of the photos taken on projects were useful due to the lack of adequate storage and management.

Launched in August 2021, BuiltView has today approximately 1,300 users across several construction sites of Laing O’Rourke and industry peers. The app has saved an average of five hours per month for site workers in charge of taking pictures for various uses.
