Laing O’Rourke is pleased to announce the completion of the Bridge Inn Road Upgrade, a key component of the Suburban Roads Upgrade.

Awarded to Laing O’Rourke in November 2021, major construction commenced in mid-2022, with completion achieved in 2025. Through collaboration with Major Road Projects Victoria, Laing O’Rourke achieved program efficiencies through the identification and implementation of technical and delivery initiatives, resulting in the early completion of all major works by the end of 2024.

The project included the upgrade of several intersections to enhance traffic flow and safety. These include Schotters Road, Cookes Road, Towerhill Avenue, Bassetts Road, Vantage Point Boulevard, Resort Boulevard, Independence Boulevard, Windermere Parade, Painted Hills Road, and Garden Road at Bridge Inn Road.

In addition, a new bridge over Plenty River was constructed, with the existing historic bluestone bridge repurposed as a shared walking and cycling path. A new 7 km long shared-use path for pedestrians and cyclists was also opened alongside Bridge Inn Road, offering a safe route through community spaces.

Mark Dimmock, Managing Director, said, “Laing O’Rourke is proud to have delivered this project, supporting Major Road Projects Victoria in connecting road users in Melbourne’s north to get home sooner and safer.”
