Laing O'Rourke to expand investment in Western Australia
19.10.20Laing O’Rourke Australia, leading the MELConnx Consortium has been awarded a contract by the Western Australian Government to design and construct the METRONET Morley-Ellenbrook rail line.
Laing O’Rourke Australia Managing Director Cathal O’Rourke welcomed the announcement by WA Premier Mark McGowan calling the contract a “green light” to expand our workforce and investment in Western Australia.
Mr O’Rourke said “our business has had a long and deep relationship in Western Australia stretching over 50 years, having played a part in the delivery of a number of major projects including Chevron’s Wheatstone Project, Perth's new Stadium Station and most recently, the NorthLink WA central section and as a delivery partner working with Main Roads Western Australia on the Armadale Road to North Lake Road Bridge Project.
“We are delighted to be granted the opportunity to design and construct this city-shaping piece of infrastructure for the people of Perth and Western Australia.
Laing O’Rourke will also use this project as an opportunity to build on the successful Indigenous training and employment initiatives developed on the Armadale Road to North Lake Road Bridge Project.
