Two engineers recognised in list of most influential women
17.10.19Dr Sarah Williamson and Yewande Akinola are featured in the list of top 100 Most Influential Women Leaders in Engineering UK and Europe. The list has been officially published in a special Women in Business report in the Financial Times and features senior leaders from top engineering firms with Laing O’Rourke being the highest ranked main contractor.
Dr Williamson, who is Laing O’Rourke’s Technical Director at Hinkley Point C, has been ranked fifth in the list which has been produced by board appointments firm Inclusive Boards. The list will be officially released at the Inclusive Boards: Women in Engineering Leadership Conference on October 22nd. Laing O’Rourke’s Innovation Lead Yewande Akinola has also been featured. Inclusive Boards Development Director Elizabeth Oni-Iyiola said: “Engineers have an impact on almost every area of our day to day lives. Dr Williamson and Yewande Akinola and those featured today are role models who inspire those around them and demonstrate leadership and influence in the work that they do.”
Dr Sarah Williamson commented: “I am very pleased to be recognised as having an impact within the Industry. Central to my thinking is working with great people and driving positive change into who we are, how we mix and deliver together. I’m proud to be a role model for difference and, of course, diversity is a huge part of that aspiration.”
Yewande Akinola said: “To be featured alongside so many influential women in engineering is an honour and continues to cement my passion for innovation, creativity and engineering in our world today.”
