Mark Dimmock Leads Laing O'rourke's Southern Region

Mark Dimmock recently joined Laing O’Rourke, taking up the position of Southern Region Director for the Australia Hub.

Mark is responsible for leading the Southern Region operations – overseeing the delivery of current projects, as well as pursuing future work opportunities that correspond to Laing O’Rourke’s unique and exciting strategy, to challenge and change the face of construction.

Prior to joining the Laing O’Rourke executive team, Mark was with Parsons Brinckerhoff, where for more than 25 years he served in numerous executive roles including Managing Director Australia Pacific and Global Mining. He has also worked across the United States, UK, Asia and Africa.

Laing O'Rourke Managing Director Cathal O’Rourke said Mark’s leadership will play a key part in the growth of the Australia Hub.

“Mark’s track record in strategic planning and implementation, leadership and people management, and improving business performance will place the Australia Hub in good stead for achieving its goals,” Cathal said.

“Mark will continue to drive our focus on engineering excellence and providing outstanding customer service.”

Laing O’Rourke’s Southern Region encompasses New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory and New Zealand.

Some of the key Region projects underway at this time include:

  • Sydney Light Rail, City and South East, early works programme

  • The Australian Department of Defence’s Moorebank Units Relocation (MUR)

  • CSIRO’s ACT Consolidation Project

  • Blacktown Hospital Clinical Services Building

  • Transport for NSW’s $1 billion+ Novo Rail Alliance

  • Wickham Transport Interchange

  • Auckland Rail Electrification

  • Wynyard Station Expansion


Mark joins the Australia Hub Board which also includes:

Jim Sloman (Chairman), Cathal O'Rourke (Managing Director), Mark Wilson (Finance Director), Neil Harding (Commercial Director) and Liam Cummins, Darren Weir, Pat Cashin and Andy Crompton (Region Directors).
